Acting on What You Hear - Practical Steps, Part 3

The end steps

When you don’t feel peace

There may be many reasons that you don’t feel peace after you’ve heard an answer. The Holy Spirit is trying to tell you something. It may be simply a matter of timing. It may be that you have interpreted what you have heard incorrectly, or have applied it incorrectly. In any case, this is a matter for increased counsel from your intercessors, from other mature Christians, and even from more study into the world’s wisdom on the subject. This is particularly true when the decision suggests a change in direction from where you have been going (as opposed to a shift, or an increase or decrease or an addition).

Push beyond your first answer when you don’t feel peace. Let the word “simmer” for a while. Meditate on the scriptures you used to arrive at the decision. “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.” – Ps 119:97-99
